Binsar was ancient capital of Chand Raj who ruled in the 7th and 8th centuries Binsar is located at a distance of 35 kms from Almora and is a well known forest reserve and bird sanctuary. Actually there is no town named as Binsar, not even a settlement of huts or anything, It is just the forest reserve that has been named Binsar. Binsar is lovely picturesque hill station & Paradise for some one who is looking quite & calm holiday with natural beauty.

How to Reach

Distance 380 km

Road Take the Nainital route tiil Kathgodam/Bhowali. For driving instructions click here. From Bhowal take the Almora road via Khairna, Garampani, Kwarab to reach Almora. Binsar is 30 km from Almora via Dinapani. See MAP

Train Last station is Kathgodam 120 km from Binsar.

What to do

Binsar is known for it's views of the snow capped Himalayan mountain ranges, so tourists can sit back and enjoy the view while having tea cofee or your favourite drink. One can also go for trekking with abundant nature trails available from Binsar. Binsar also houses a forest reserve with a rich diversity of flora and fauna with forests of oak and rhododendron with a large species of flowers and birds along with some wild animals. The famous temple of Binsar Mahadev is also nearby. One can also make a detour to nearby places like to Kausani, Ranikhet, Jageshwar or Chowkori.
