Tour Dates: The tour starts in Delhi every Sunday and ends the following Saturday in Delhi. The tour can be tailored to suit your dates.

ITINERARY
Day 01: Delhi-Pangot, near Nainital
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
You will be met at the hotel in Delhi and taken to Pangot (7-8 hours), a journey that takes you on one of the world’s more spectacular mountain roads as we climb up into the Kumaon Hills on our way to the ‘lake city’ of Nainital. Aproximately 15km from Nainital you will arrive at Pangot a town known for birdwatching in India.Spend the afternoon birding with a guide near the lodge in Pangot. One can stop along the way
to look for birds that may include

  • blue whistling thrush,
  • red-billed blue magpie,
  • blue-capped redstart,
  • rusty-tailed flycatcher,
  • grey-backed shrike,
  • yellow-breasted green finch etc.

Overnight stay at Jungle Lore Birding Lodge or the Kafal House

Day 02: Pangot
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Birding at Pangot, Baggar, Timla Pani, Cheena Peak & Nainital. These walks can be very rewarding. One can see

  • Crested serpent-eagle,
  • Mountain hawk-eagle,
  • Woodpeckers such as brown-fronted,
  • Stripe-breasted, rufous-bellied etc.
  • Thrushes such as dark-throated
  • Mistle
  • Striated prinia (in the terraced fields)
  • Warblers such as tickell’s leaf-warbler,
  • Flycatchers (Asian brown, rusty-tailed, ultramarine, verditer,)
  • Rufous-bellied Niltava
  • Orange-flanked bush robin,
  • Blue-capped redstart.
  • Laughing thrushes such as white-throated, striated & streaked, chestnut-crowned etc.
  • Accentor, upland pipit,
  • Blue-winged minla,
  • Whiskered yuhina etc.
  • Slaty-headed & red-breasted parakeet,
  • Grey bushchat,
  • Long-tailed & grey-backed shrike,
  • Common kestrel, besra, chestnut-bellied rock thrush
  • Streaked laughing thrush.
  • Pheasants are Cheer, Koklas and Khalij.


Day 03 and 04: Sat Tal
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Drive in the morning to Sat Tal (2 hours). We spend two days here for absolutely great birding. The habitat offers species such as

  • White-crested laughing thrush,
  • Rufous-gorgeted flycatcher,
  • Red-billed leothrix,
  • Siberian rubythroat,
  • Rock bunting etc.
  • Rufous-chinned & white crested laughing thrush,
  • Rufous-breasted accentor,
  • Greater yellow-naped flameback,
  • Speckled piculet,
  • Golden bush robin etc.

This scattered and deliberately undeveloped area is one of the most pleasant destinations Overnight stay in a hotel.


Day 05: Sat Tal – Corbett National Park Park) 
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Drive to Corbett National Park in the morning stopping en route for birding at Corbett Falls. Corbett Tiger reserve has spectacular avifauna diversity. I the Afternoon Explore the River ridge at Kumeria

  • Great hornbill,
  • Pallas’s fish eagle,
  • Red-collared falconet etc. are some of the rare birds that are found in Corbett.
  • Jungle owlet,
  • Scaly-bellied woodpecker,
  • Red-breasted parakeet,
  • Himalayan swiftlet,
  • Stork-billed & crested kingfisher and
  • White-tailed & Siberian rubythroat.

Birds Found at At the Ridge at Kumeria

  • Brown fish owl
  • Asian barred owlet,
  • Plumbeous redstart,
  • Brown dipper
  • Fork tails.
  • Crested tree swift,
  • Spangled drongo,
  • Blue bearded bee-eater.

 

Overnight stay in a resort outside the park.


Day 06: Dhikala Forest Lodge (Corbett National Park) 
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Drive to Dhikala tourism zone. Spend the Entire day birding and wildlife viewing. This is a paradise for birdwatchers, you may opt to go birding in the lower jungle track along the Ramganga River which is very rewarding and relaxing at the jungle lodge or visiting the grasslands.

  • River lapwings,
  • Waders,
  • Mergansers
  • Waterfowl.
  • long-tailed nightjar,
  • jungle owlet,
  • spot-bellied owl,
  • common stonechat,
  • black francolin,
  • purple and crimson sunbird,
  • golden-fronted & orange-bellied leafbird,
  • black-shouldered kite,
  • hen harrier,
  • changeable hawk-eagle,
  • Chestnut-tailed starling etc.

Overnight stay at Dhikala Forest Lodge.

Note: The accommodation in Dhikala is basic but has en suite toilet and shower. If the accommodation is not available in Dhikala we will stay in a resort and go for safaris in the other parts of the park.

Day 07: Corbett National Park
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Morning elephant safari (optional; on direct payment) through the grasslands and dense forests. This is the best mode of transport for tiger-tracking. Return for breakfast and then drive to Tiger Camp stopping en route for birding. One can expect to see great

  • slaty woodpecker,
  • great hornbill,
  • puff-throated babbler,
  • white-rumped shama,
  • Pallas’s fish eagle

Arrive at the resort for lunch (optional).

 

Drive back to Delhi (6 hours), arriving in the evening. Tour Ends.

Note: 1. Dhikala opens on November 16 every year and closes on June 15. The tours outside these dates will be modified and the safaris will be arranged in the other parts of Corbett National Park.
2. The accommodation in Dhikala is basic but has en suite toilet and shower. If the accommodation is not available in Dhikala we will stay at Tiger Camp and go for safaris in the other parts of the park.
3. This itinerary may be reversed if the booking in Dhikala is not available over the weekend. This will not impact the quality of the tour and experience thereof.
4. Holi – the festival of colours takes place in March, on that very day the national parks remain closed. Since it is based on lunar calendar we will be able to tell you the date only by January.
